A NEW TRANSPLANTABLE MOUSE SALIVARY ADENOCARCINOMA 7311 ( YUN ADENOCARCINOMA ) OF SPONTANEOUS ORIGIN
À±Å¹±¸/Yun TK
Abstract
The transplantabilities and histological characteristics of a spontaneous transplantable liposarcoma were studied. The tumor was found in the intraperitoneal space of a C3H/HeN female mouse about two years ago during the breeding of inbred animals from the stocks supplied by National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, U.S.A. Grossly, the tumor had whitish-pink or yellowish surface and the tumor tissue was firm. Microscopically it consisted of compactly arranged spindle shaped cells with frequent lipid granules or droplets in the cytoplasm. Even after many continous transplantation, the original histological findings were maintained. Thistumor is transplantable 100 percent in both sexes of the original C3H/HeN mice. However, the percentage of take was reduced to 10 percent in C3H/HeN , 20 percent in DBA/2N, and 25 percent in C3Hf/HeN mice. The transplantability in non-inbred N:GP (SW) mice was 10 percent and BDF1 hybrid mice 36.8 percent. The average transfer day in C3H/HeN mice was 25.6 days, and the average survival time of the transplanted animals was 40 days. The tumor has been carried through 30th transplant generations. It is expected that this transplantable tumor will be useful in the studies of immunotherapy and chemotherap of mesenehymal tumor as well as histogenesis research of liposarcoma.
